Name of an injection?

My mother recieved an injection in hospital which is suppose to remove any blood clots in the blood stream in preparation for a heart functionality diagnosis. The effects of the injection was rather quick and significant. Would anyone know what would the injection possibly be?

heparin does not remove existing blood clots, it prevents the blood from clotting normally to prevent new/more clots....there is medication to dissolve fresh blood clots, eg TPA....are you sure your understanding of this injection is correct?....many people refer to heparin as a blood thinner, and think it removes clots

I am certain that it is Heparin.
