Question:

Name of basement tile product designed to go directly on cement floor?

Looking for the name of a product that supposedly can be installed directly on the cement. Apparently it's low-cost, great for unsealed basement floors and doesn't necessarily have to be covered with anything else.

If you know what product this is, or can suggest something similar (or better), 10 points for you!

  1. I would definately go with a 'Mannington' VCT (vinyl composition tile). it is gurranteed to last 30 yrs., but will go beyond 40. Cost is about 1 dollar per sq. ft. and is basically a do-it-yourselfer project that can be completed in a reasonable amount of time.  besides, the styles are now more home-friendly.these are 1ft. SQ tiles and will allow for a moderate amount of mistakes, unlike a vinyl - sheet type of product. The adhesive used is a very good sealant/moisture barrier especially when generously applied.

  2. You may be talking about Armstrong Vinyl tiles. They are 1/8" thick and come in 12" x 12" squares. I bought mine at Home Depot.

  3. Rustoluem two part epoxy, however if you live in certain counties in  california due to VOC regulations i would not recommend it,

  4. I tile every day of my life and I'm not sure anyone understands your question.

For one thing TILE is not a floor sealant, nor does it require one to be installed over concrete.

If your concrete floor has moisture issues, an interior sealer won't FIX that issue anyway. If you installed tile on a concrete floor with moisture issues, it wouldn't matter if the substance used was labeled SUPERMAN, 10 ft tall and bullet proof, eventually the tile would pop.

No offense but 2 points happens just to answer, someone else can have the other 8. I'm still confused about your Q and what you want to know.

    Just my two "sense"

  5. linoleum or sheet vinyl

  6. There is a product available from suppliers of Bathroom Fittings etc, called "Unibond", this may suit your requirements. More info on problem would be helpful to correctly diagnose a solution.
