Name of book written by special education teacher published in reader's digest?

I am trying to find the name of a book published in the early to mid 1980's. I believe it was a true stor written by a special ed teacher about her class for a year. I remember that a shorter version was published in the reader's digest. The teacher had a 13 year old girl who was pregnant and a boy who pulled out his hair in her class.

This probably isn't it, but it sounds kind of like The Tiger's Child by Torey Hayden:

Ms. Hayden wrote quite a few books about being a special-ed teacher. I swear I remember the hair-pulling boy in TTC but can't be sure. Anyway it's a good start; you may find the one you're looking for by looking at similar items on Amazon.

Reader's Digest also condensed her book "One Child."  I believe this book covers her first year as a special ed teacher.  If you like her other books, read this one.  It will break your heart.
