I have used Vonage in the past and it is pretty good, my wife bought one line and her parents bought another one, now she can talk to them every day all day long paying one fourth of what we use to pay a month, plush she could buy a 5 dlls local phone number and then everybody that calls her would be dialing a local number even when she is in another country.

I think Vonage is of the most widely used VOIP services. And you were provided a good answer bout it.

There is another company that might be worth looking into. It's named Sunrocket. My friend uses it and is very happy with their service.

Depending how you plan to use your phone service you can check Jajah. They do not provide home phone. But it might be useful tool for long distance calls.
