Name of the artist/painting?

I think the artist's name was Engres...it could be Jean Ingres.

The piece was of a nude woman (with a man?) with butterflies...or butterfly wings on their back(s). It was definitely of a classical style. The medium looked like oil.

I saw this on a humorous greeting card in Art Mart (an art supply store), and I'd like to know the title of the original piece/artist.

  1. All I can tell you is that it wouldn't be Jean Ingres--he did mostly portraits, and some Classical subjects, but nothing where anyone had butterfly wings.

Without a picture of the painting or an accurate name (or even the name of the card company), it's pretty much impossible to answer this one. Next time you're at Art Mart see if you can find it again, and copy the info on the back, or h**l, even buy the card.
