Name of this movie of time machine?

i remember very little .. this person got lost in time i think it was a kid and he got lost in time when he had a squeecky door and when he finally returned to the right time his dad had put some oil to the door and it didnt squeek any more so he thought he wasnt in the right year and he kept going in time looking .. thats an old movie ..

That happend on the show "Sliders".  The people were jumping through dimensions trying to find their way back home.  They had just slid into a new diminsion and they opened the gate door and it didn't squeak. So they jumped to the next dimension, but right after they left the main character's mom walked out of the house and thanked a guy for oiling the gate.
