Question:

Name of zoom feature?

My camera (as well as other ones I've owned) has two zoom features: in one, the lens focuses and then stops. In the other feature, the lens focuses and stops but if you push the button again, it will zoom just a little further (resulting in a much sharper, all around better picture). Does anyone know the name of the second feature?

I've somehow turned mine off and would like to know what it's called to look it up in the owner's manual. (Please don't suggest just looking up zooming- I've already tried that.)

Thanks!

PS: It's a Casio if that makes any difference.

  1. Optical is the zoom that uses the lenses design to adjust the focal length (angle of view).

Digital zoom is when the camera crops into the already small sensor decreasing the quality of the image ...  not sharper nor better.  You can confirm this by looking at the files (one made while using the optical zoom and one made using the digital zoom)  When you view them at 100% you will see the difference.

  2. its called digital zoom usually not sure where to fix that though, my friend had a video problem where it would only take videos at 10 second increments so she just set the camera back to its original settings

  3. Sounds like Macro .A macro lens is optimized for best performance. It depends mostly on focal length.
