Name on airline ticket?

I am going to Brazil and I would like to know what name to put on my ticket. On Brazilian passport I have my maiden name and on american passport I have under my marriage name. Which last name should I put on may ticket?

  1. It does not matter. As long as your name on the ticket matches your name on a ID document like passport or driver's license, But I would suggest you to use the name that is in your American passport. When you go to Brazil, just show your brazilian passport, so that you don't have to stand in the long customs line.


  2. By whichever name you are listed on the valid passport. If your Brazilian passport is void, use your American Name...and incidentally, if all the ID in your purse says "Jane Doe," and your Brazilian passport (if it is still valid) says "Jane Smith"...the police are going to operate on the assumption that the passport could be stolen.

    So...unless you're in the process of divorcing the hubby, use the one with the correct name, or simply apply to have the name changed on the Brazilian passport.

    Incidentally...I don't know if you thought of this, but if you can still legally use the Brazilian passport, do so while overseas... You'll probably be treated better (especially in Europe).
