  1. Anton Volchenkov

  2. A couple skaters are Joe Sakic , Joe Thornton, Maxime Talbot, Phil Coffey, and Milan Heduk. Alot of people don't give Thornton or Sakic, the respect they deserve especially Sakic he has to carry a team that isn't very good especially defensive wise on his back.

  3. I can't speak for pre 1964 players but since then , 2 easily come to mind, Marcel Dionne and Gilbert Perrault. Then you have guys like Mike Bossy, Rod Gilbert, Stan Mikita , Dave Keon, and Brian Trottier, checkers like Butch Goring, Esa Tikkanen, Bob Gainey, Derek Sanderson. Many great players that haven't recieved their due but Dionne and Perrault top my list.

    P.S.

Jordan Staal, lol, Maxime Talbot, chuckle, chuckle. To the guy who chose Chico Maki, kudos, Pit Martin from that team is another.

  4. Ron Francis is the most underrated, underappreciated hockey player of all time.

24th in all time regular season goals.

2nd in all time regular season assists.

3rd all time in regular season games played.

4th all time in regular season points.

    2 Stanley Cup Championships.

    549 goals.

    1249 assists.

1798 points in 1731 games played.

Wow.  How could Jordan Staal be in this list when he hasn't even played 5 years?  Take the "All-time" out of your question than maybe we can talk about Jordan Staal.

Otherwise, Ron Francis, my friend, Ron Francis.  4th all time in points yet you'll never hear his name.

  5. Brian Bellows

    Bernie Federko

    Ron Francis

    Michel Goulet

    Steve Larmer

    Teppo Numminen

    Adam Oates

    Steve Shutt

    Peter Stastny

    Pat Verbeek

I could go on and on like the energizer bunny with this list boys ..

  6. Mike Bossy by far.

Whenever you see "greatest of all time" discussions, Bossy RARELY makes the cut despite the fact that he was at a rate where he could have possibly almost scored 1,000 goals for his career.

Mike Bossy: 752 GP, 573 Goals

Wayne Gretzky: 1487 GP, 894 Goals

About 700 less, just over half of the games Gretzky played, but only 300 less goals. I personally think that if Bossy didn't have a bad back and managed to play out through a full career, he would be "The Great One" and not Gretzky, and discussions would be "Gretzky, Bossy, or Lemieux" rather than simply "Gretzky or Lemieux?"

  7. When I think of a guy who...In 1972 set the record for points by a rookie, a 7 time All Star, Won the Art Ross Trophy ahead of 99, Twice a Pearson Award winner, 4th in Career Goals and 5th in career points but still doesn't get love from people because for most of his career he played on the West Coast and for some bad teams....My answer..Marcel Dionne.

**Leroy-Teemu Selanne was on pace for 1140 goals after his rookie season if he played for 15 seasons. You can't judge a player based on Pace.Injuries are part of the game.

  8. Pominville, Derek Roy, Marc Savard, Ales Hemsky, Nathan Horton are some of the most underated players in the league right now.

  9. Sidney Crosby gets no respect! If he had the respect, he would have gotten the calls to make the Finals a victory for PITT! Truly, the league and all the fans need to write and talk about him more than they do. A player that good needs to be seen and talked abut more, like in your face at every minute of every broadcast even when he is not playing. And, if the NHL could install the Michael Jordan rules for him, then he could actually take his team to a CUP victory. The league needs to get on that fast, before he gets old and cant do it.

  10. Sakic, he only gets respect in the hockey world, not in the overall sports world. But if you think about it the only attention the NHL ever got was during the strike and that's because the rest of the sports world thought it would be cool to see a major sports league disappear. Look at all the be name players who aren't signed now, Sakic, Shannahan, and Sundin, if they were basketball players then you would be hearing about them everyday on sportscenter. Hockey deserves more respect.

  11. I would be interested to see how some of the guys who came into the NHL just before expansion would look today. Not the stars but some of the less famous. Guys like Eddie Shack or Chico Maki for instance. These guys were tough, hard nosed players who I think would be stars in an expanded league like we have now. We'd probably know exactly  who LITY is.
