I'm sorry that offhand I can't think of any famous missionaries who have gone to Africa.  An Internet search brought up the Brown family's website:

Jonna-Lynn K. Mandelbaum was a missionary in Africa, as well and wrote the book Malarial Fevers based on her experiences.  She also has a website:

As far as websites that have info on becoming a missionary to Africa, do a search for "Foreign Mission Board" and it should bring up lots of websites that talk about foreign missions and mission opportunities all over the world.  If you need this information for a research paper, probably the best source would be to go to a church library, or, if there is one nearby, the library at a Christian college.
