Question:

Name suggestions for a fundraising or volunteering club?

I'm considering starting either a fundraising or volunteering club at my high school when fall starts again. If I create a fundraising club, we would be selling snacks (and other things) monthly on the school's catwalk or at a local venue, and donate profits to a non-profit agency of our choice. If it is a volunteering club, we would get together every other weekend to volunteer our time at one-time events.

Which sounds like it would be easier to pull off? I'm not looking for something "easy", persay, but this will be my first club, so I want to make sure things run smoothly from the start. Also, if anyone could offer some club name suggestions, that would be great. I live in San Francisco, so we can also incorporate that into the name.

  1. Raise- A-Snack That would be a good name

  2. Snacks-for-Life Enrichment

  3. www.thepencilproject.com

    Easy and rewarding

  4. Neither sounds very hard to me.

If you weren't in high school, I'd say fundraising that way would be a tad difficult. But I know some schools don't even have junk food vending machines. If they do, just make sure you're selling something different.

With volunteering you'd just have to make sure all members knew about it. You could all either choose one charity to adopt and do all you can for them, or try for the short-term thing. You also need to think a bit about which one you want. Some require background checks or there is an age requirement.

I know you want either and not both, but a third option would be for you to mainly have a fundraising club but have everyone get together every few months for something such as Habitat for Humanity. You can take photos, make a website about your club, etc. It would be a good topic to bring up to the college recruiter when the time comes.
