Name that mystery vegetable!?

Question

I was in airport in Turkey I ordered a vegetarian wrap and it had some kind of strange vegetable, don't know what what it was, tasted kind of like potato but don't think it was a potato, any idea from someone more familiar with mediteranian cuisine?

if it was a little sweet it might have been parsnip, if it tasted a little like oyster then maybe salsify.  Both are native to the area.  Salsify is also called oyster plant.

Must be cucumber, looked up a lot of recipes and they all call for cucumber.
