  1. Colombia 300 and the brand new mooney that just came out.

  2. Another bit of trivia, the fastest propeller driven aircraft is the Tupolev TU-95 Bear.

Top speed during testing in 1955 (no typo) was 993 kilometers per hour.  That works out to 608 mph.  Ironically two of the oldest active duty military aircraft is the B-52 and the TU-95.  The other aircraft is the C-130.

  3. Just for the curious, the world's fastest propeller airplane achieved a speed of Mach .83 which is right at 560 mph. It was done in a steep dive. They used a P-47 airframe and the pilot even put his toddler in his lap for one of the flights!

  4. read the question folks:  Fixed gear.

The fastest FAA-certified SE piston fixed gear is the Cessna (former Columbia) 400.

others would be Cessna 350 and Cirrus SR-22-G3

The Mooney Acclaim is the fastest SE piston retract currently in production

  5. I only know one

Aircraft records, the Bearcat  holds the record at 850.24 km/h (528.88 mph).

also concord but that is no longer in production  or running in the states

  6. Well, I went to wiki and this is what it says:

The Cessna 400 is the second-fastest FAA-certified single-engined piston aircraft in production today, and the fastest with fixed landing gear, reaching a speed of 235 knots true air speed, at 25,000 feet. Only the retractable-gear Mooney M20TN Acclaim is faster, at 242 knots.

If you're willing to do a homebuild aircraft, I would suggest the Lancair models.  VERY fast and pressurized.
