  1. no, it was france that was occupied in less than 2 months/weeks, i dont remember, after that Germans got pretty close to taking out the USSR, but before that Great Britain was left alone, until the US and the USSR joined on their sied. both were attacked by the axis.

  2. Russia was a part of the German Pact in 1940 along with Italy.

It was England that was left to stand alone after the fall of Paris

in the late spring of 1940 after she withdrew her troops from Dunkirk.

  3. England - Russia not in vs. Germany till '43.

Andymark has the best answer, gives the best and most impt.  info.

  4. The answer is France, leaving England alone.

But that answer could be argued on many points, especially by the dozen or so "minor" countries whose people died fighting the n***s.....

  5. UK and USA

  6. Germany took over a fair sized chunk of  Europe and left england alone against Germany. Italy, And Russia.

Russia joined the allies after germany invaded them, however there advance was halted a stalingrad.

  7. Yeah, France was overwhelmed, leaving England alone. But they really weren't at all. In Hitler's mind, this was all a nasty distraction; he really just wanted to invade Russia all along. The Germans never liked the Russians, and vice versa. By the end of the war, 3/4 of the casualties in Europe had happened in Russia; the war was really won and lost in the battles of Moscow, Stalingrad, and Leningrad. The Russians, who started as Hitler's allies, ended as his biggest and most deadly enemies; England was never alone, at least in Hitler's mind, as long as Russia was sitting to his East.

  8. Nope.  It was France that got overwhelmed in 1940, leaving England alone to oppose Hitler.

In 1940, n**i Germany and the Soviet Union still had a non-aggression treaty.  It wasn't broken until June 1941, when Germany attacked the USSR.

  9. It was France due to bad leadership of military. General Gamelin head of the army was crazy (he forbid to phone to him!!) French army fighted however (more than 130000 killed) .

England was left alone and Russia was allied at that time with germany. I am not jokin, it is true!!

  10. In 1940, France, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, Luxumborg and Norway fell, leaving only Great Britain and her commonwealth nations to oppose Hitler.  Until June of 1941, the Soviets were not at war with Germany, and were, in fact, Germany's allies.
