Name this bug?

Question

a few days ago, on the news there was something about a harmful bug. it is harmful to trees. we think we may have found it in our house so we would like to report it. can you name it? and also if you think that's it can you describe it?

There are any number of insect species, mostly invasive species that are harmful to trees.

One of the major ones at the moment is emerald ash borer, a bright green metallic beetle native to northern China that has become established in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois, as well as Ontario, with smaller outbreaks in Maryland and Kentucky.

There are others as well, such as banded elm bark beetle (throughout the western USA), a wood wasp called Sirex noctilio (Pennsylvania and New York mostly), and brown spruce beetle (Nova Scotia).
