Question:

Names beginning with the same letter...good or bad?

Do you think that it would seem OTT if three girls all had a name beginning with an 'S' or an 'S' sound.

Sandrine, Sophia and Celeste.

These are not triplets but just three sisters and Sandrine and Sophia are already named.

Do you think Celeste would be overkill or quite pretty?

  1. First of all, I love the name Celeste! And no, it wouldn't be bad if all three of them would have the S sound in their names. Actually, if you have another child then you can have his name start with C, and it would be great!

  2. I love when siblings have the same sounding names. My cousins are Tyler Travis and Tanner and I think its adorable. It helps show that they are a family. My in laws are Cathy, Carol, Caren, and Cristina.... It's cute.

  3. Hi there , i don't see any problem with that . All my children's names begin with an 's' , i have Sharon and Sheldon ,Sommer-lee and Sirus. How's that for ya?

  4. Hate the name Celeste, how about Sadie, Summer or Scarlet.

  5. If that what you like, that's fine

Some people name all there children with the same letter

Sandrine, Sophia and Celeste are fine, and I think Celeste is different from the other two

  6. I think as long as the parents like the names, then it is fine. I personally don't think that there is anything wrong with it. But some others might.

    Hope I helped! :-)

  7. Not really, a friend of mine has 5 children, 4 sons & 1 daughter, all their names begin with the same letter, so I see no reason why the person can't do as she wishes.

Celeste is a beautiful name for a girl, refined.

    Good Luck.X :-)

  8. I admire anyone who can name their kids similar sounding names and keep them straight. My 3 have completely different names and I still call them by the wrong ones. Celeste is pretty.

  9. Celeste is pretty but you can spell it with an S "Seleste" if you want too.I believe Seleste is the latin form of Celeste.

  10. Never a good idea to go with a letter/sound theme when naming your brood.

Besides the fact that it's just sort of lame, you end up calling roll because you can't remember which name goes with which kid.

  11. it is neat when siblings have the same letter in their names.. i didn't do that, just cuz i didn't think of it..lol..

i love sophia, celeste, but sandrine not so sure.. never heard that name.

  12. Hmmmm...it might be a bit much. I really like the name Celeste, it's very pretty, and obviously you do, too. But I say, go for it! If you really are in doubt, why not giver her another name in front of Celeste?

    Anna Celeste

    Maria Celeste

    Joannah Celeste

    Rosie Celeste

    Lucy Celeste

A first name with two syllables ending in a vowel sound works best. Good luck!

  13. I dont htink it matters really.

Aslong as you like the names then its alright :)

  14. Quite pretty.

    My friends parents have

    Kelly, Kris and Keith.

    Other friends have

    Tyler, Thomas and Teesha

  15. I have Caitlin and Conor. Not naming our 3rd with a 'C' though but that's more to do with the fact that I like an alternative name that doesn't begin with 'C'.

If you like the names then go for it. It doesn't seem OTT to me.

  16. I think it would be just fine.  Celeste is lovely, plus the names seem quite different.

I am expecting another boy, my first is called Dylan, and he wants Daniel, but I am unsure because it's a bit "Bill and Ben" with 2 boys

  17. Not at all.  Lots of people name their kids with the same first letter.  Celeste is very pretty.  If you like it -- go for it.

  18. i thik it would be fine. i like your taste in names.. but sandrine kinda sounds like sardine. i really like celeste though.

  19. I think that name would be pretty. Not only is it a nice name, as you said that all have the same sound at the beginning. It's a nice touch to your kids names and it's very cute! Good luck with the new baby! Hopefully you name her Celeste!

    Cheeko ♥

  20. I can't believe how many people are being cruel about the name Sandrine!

I think it's a pretty, if unusual, name for a girl. I love the name Sophia.

Celeste is a fantastic name, but she'll be the odd one out as far as spelling's concerned.

Seleste is a variant of Celeste, but it isn't as pretty. I also like Selene.

So: Celeste - yes! And consider Selene for your next one. :-)

  21. Celeste is a nice name, naming children with the same initial letter is OK but what about when they are older and they get a letter addressed to Miss S Johnson (or whatever) who opens the letter ?

  22. I have always loved the name Celeste... I was a big fan of "Moon Dreamers" when I was a little girl.  :)

  23. I know a lot of people who use the same initial, my mother included, but I didn't. Not because I avoided it, just because the names I liked didn't have the same letter. It is personal preference. However, once you have over a dozen like the Duggars, using the same letter is annoying!

  24. Sandrine??? wow!! i just think of sardines sorry!!

Sandra or Sabrina are much nicer i think but oh well!!!

Celeste is ok i just personally do not like it!!!

the names together if you like them are fine!!

i prefer Savannah or Santanna or Shelby or Sonia or Sadie or Stacey or Sybil or Sylvia or Sherry or Stephanie or Sara

    good luck!

  25. Ick.  Give the girls a little independence, at least.  I DO like Celeste, though.   You could pull off Celeste as long as you don't turn it into "Seleste" to be cute.  Celeste is a good classic name, and not too common.  I've always liked the name Cecily too.

Sandrine is horrid.  I'm not sure whether  to think "sangria" or "sardine."  Say "Sandrine" three times - it sounds like you are whining!  I picture the adult Sandrine to be a whiny, nagging woman.

It's a shame that Sophia has been nearly destroyed by overuse.  It's a beautiful name.  Far too common.

  26. i personally don't like it at all but it seems to be a HUGE trend to name all of your children with the same sound or letter. i would purposely not do it but i know a lot of people who do. it's all personal preference.

  27. Yep, I think the two are bad enough - Sandrine sounds like a surface cleaner, and I bet everyone calls the other one Marie.

Three esses are just ridiculous. It could only be worse if the surname began with an S too...

  28. I say go for it! Who cares what anyone else thinks? BTW.....My brother, sister, and I all have the same initials (D.F.K.), as do our parents and I think it's great. I think all of the names you have chosen are really cute, and go together perfectly.

  29. Sandrine...eww, poor child! Sophia and Celeste are really pretty though. Definitley go with celeste!

  30. I don't think it'd be bad at all. The three names are cute together! :o)

  31. overkill. sorry. it would start to seem like you did it on purpose which is so naff. i mean 2 is fine - Sandrine and Sophia are lovely but go for a very different sound with the next one.

I read this thing about a family where the grandparents were Jack and Judy and they named their kids Jodie, Jim and Jill and then Jim had 4 kids called Jackson, Julie, Jamie and Jayden and it made me cringe so much.
