Question:

Names for Boy or Girl...?

I’m not sure if I’m looking for a name for a boy or girl, so I am trying to compile a list for each.

What I am looking for in a name:

- A name that sounds different

- A unique name

- Unisex name

- Unisex names that tend to be used more for one s*x, so I can use it for the opposite

- Completely boy names that I’d use for a girl (Ex. Maddox - ‘Maddie‘, Noah)

Thanks.

  1. Go for something original, my friend is named: Beigea (Bay-ge-ah)

or some unique spelling like, Ixchel (Ih-shell) Goddess of the moon, rain, and childbirth.

How about a name that isn't popular anymore, but was in the past. Like Sebastian.

So, ideas, Guinevere, Juliet, Helena, Beigea, Ixchel, Isolde, Rosalyn, Esther, Marianne, Elizabeth, Catherine.

Sebastian, Jasper, James, Charles, Peter, Henry, Edmund, Royce, Gaspard, Joshua.

  2. how about Mattison (madison)

  3. Taylor or Tyler

    Ellis

    Riley

    Maddison

Karl/Carl for a boy, Carly/Carli/Carla/Karla if it was a girl

  4. Why would you use a name that's meant to be for one s*x for the opposite? That's silly. Unisex names are okk but why would you deliberately do the opposite?

Maddie is a lovely girls name, but I wouldn't make it short for Maddox. Noah is a gorgeous boys name.

Unisex: What about Jess for a boy short for Jesse - I love this one but I think it's more masculine.

  9. Why would you purposely chose a gender-ambiguous name?  Or chose a name you know will cause a lot of confusion for your child and others - name your child something that everyone is going to connect with the opposite s*x?  Sounds sadistic.

I know a boy named Ashley who was assigned a female roommate in college because the admissions was SURE that Ashley was a girls' name and the tick in the 'male' part of the form was a mistake.

    It's stupid.

  16. Don't listen to anyone who doesn't think it's a good idea to name your child a gender-neutral name or a name primarily used on the opposite s*x. I think this is an awesome idea and I can sort of relate. So, for a girl, I like these typically 'masculine' names, in no particular order: Emerson, Everett, Drew (unisex name,) Dylan, Chandler, Indiana, Logan, Holden, Sora (unisex name,) August, Indigo, and Noa (girl's name, without the 'h,' that sounds masculine.)

Now, for a boy, I like these names: Haven (unisex; VERY, VERY rarely used for boys,) Teal (most websites state this is a female's name, but one states it's unisex,) Indiana (this is the name of Casey Affleck's son, and is the only boy I know of with this name,) Paige (Matt Damon's middle name,) and Indigo. If I come up with more names, I'll be sure to return to this page. :^)
