When I was in the Dominican Republic I saw several fruits that I had never seen before. One was like a small red pear with white flesh and there were some others. I saw passion fruit a lot but at least I knew what that was, and there was also guanabana.

What was the name of the little red pear fruit and

what other fruits are on the island that you can't get here.

go 2 dis website, it will tell u everythin

  2. the fruit u saw was '' manzana de agua''   in english something like water apple,  there's a lot of fruit than u cannot get in other contrys, just like the one u saw and  i think the second one u talk about is call ''mamon'' ,

here u can get those two, plus some others like the ''auyama''  ,  .....

  3. the small red pear i think is called a rose apple in english, but nobody knows the name in english.  i ate something similar in thailand.

the guanabana has a "cousin fruit" called "chirymoya" or "anona"  depending on chich latin american country you go to...in english, it is a sarsop, but nobody knows it by that name.

the pasison fruit is a "granadilla" or "granadilla china" in spanish, but i think in D.R. there is another name for it.

you might have also had a "mamon"....but it looks like a red sea urchin (the one with the tenticles on the bottom of the ocean.)  it is kinda like a lychee or a "dragons eye" or "ojo de dragon"

"nispero" are very sweet, sometimes they are called "zapote" (because in mexico a "nispero" is something different).  the nispero is a super sweet and off white sugary fruit with a brownish tan peel.  the "zapote *****" is the only fruit in the world that i have ever seen that is dark brown...almost black.

there are "jackfruits" in asia, not sure in the carribean, but they do have "breadfruits" in the carribean.  they looked similar to the jackfruits but they were not in season when i was in puerto rico however, so i don't know if they are similar.
