  1. Can,t help you Danny,to be honest the biggest aeroplane that i have ever flown in was a 4 seater Cessna.

  2. I think that you need to rephrase your question into a form that could be easier to answer.  The answer to your question as it is now worded is probably too broad.  I could write a short book in order to answer the question as it is currently phrased.

Here is the best short answer that I can give:

Currently, there are really only two major manufacturers of Commercial Aircraft in the world.  They are Boeing and Airbus Industries.  There are a large number of aircraft flown by reagional airlines that come from other manufacturers than those two (Bombardier Aerospace for example).

Of the 'Big Two', you have numerous models, some currently still in production, that are in service and flying with commercial airlines at the time of this writing.  At Boeing, for example, they are building the 737, 747, 767, 777, and 787.  The 757 ended its production run after 23 years in 2005, but is still flown by many airlines.  A few 727s are still around as well.

Boeing holds all of the rights for what was formerly McDonnell Douglas until Boeing bought them out.  The DC-8 is still flown as a freighter in a few fleets.  There are a number of DC-9 variants still soldiering on.  The DC-10 was mostly phased out and replaced by the MD-11.  But other than the military, I don't think any MD-11s are used commercially these days.  To the best of my knowledge, Boeing quickly ended production of all of the MD designs as soon as they acquired all rights to the company.  And in truth, only the DC-8 and maybe the last two or three series of DC-9 designs were planes worthy of noting.  The DC-10 was a pig.  Lockheed's L-1011 TriStar was a far better aircraft in the same class as the DC-10.  The DC-10 outsold the L-1011 based strictly on price per unit.

At any rate, rephrase your question to scale down your search.  Limit it to 'currently flying' verses 'retired'.  Or maybe ask what is the most common make and model.  Something a little less broad as what you are currently asking.  We can give you a better defined answer then.
