The South Africa U-19s won the toss and elected to bat first. Centurions Bowes (115) and Player of the Match de Kock (126) set up a mammoth 212-run opening stand, which came to an end with the dismissal of de Kock in the 32nd over. Shaylin Pillay
(13) joined Bowes briefly for a 39-wicket stand, after which he was dismissed by Zhivago Groenewald (9-0-85-3) in the 38th over.
Bowes continued to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 it out at the crease, going on to establish another 39-run partnership, this time with Theunis de Bruyn (27), which came to an end with Bowes’ dismissal at the hands of Andre Engelbrecht (8-0-57-2) in the 43rd over. Engelbrecht
also sent de Bruyn packing in the 45th over, but by this point, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 had reached a comfortable team total of 305, at the expense of just 4 wickets.
Gihahn Cloete (36*) took over from where the top order left off, and aided by several batsmen such as Diego Rosier (22), succeeded in propelling the team to a final total of 359 by the end of 50 overs.
The South Africa Under-19s followed up the stellar batting display with an intense bowling attack, which saw all 6 of their bowlers claiming at least one wicket each, while de Bruyn (5-0-20-4) took 4, and Prenelan Subrayen (10-2-40-2) took 2.
Namibian opener Pelham Myburgh top-scored for his side with 37, but was unable to find a consistent batsman to set up a partnership with – Wian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 Vuuren (9), Justin Baard (1), skipper Stephan Baard (11), and Malan Kruger (6) all gave their wickets away
without offering much resistance.
Myburgh was finally dismissed in the 30th over, lbw, by Subrayen, by which point http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Namibia-c2964 were at 92 for 5. What followed was a 42-run 5th-wicket stand between Gerhard Erasmus (21) and Groenewald (26), which lent a touch of stability
to Namibia’s innings.
However, following Erasmus’ dismissal at the hands of David Rhoda in the 31st over, none of the remaining batsmen managed to contribute much, and Namibia were restricted to 150, all out, by the end of 46 overs – 209 runs short of the final target.
