http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Namibia-c2964 continued to rule the ICC Africa Division One T20 Tournament as the team once again remained victorious in the two matches played on July 13, 2011 at Kampala.
In the eight matches played by Namibia till date, the side has defeated the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nigeria-c2970 and Ghana.
As of now, Namibia sits at the top of the points table with 16 points after fighting against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ghana-c2905 and Kenya in the matches played at Lugogo Cricket Oval yesterday. Namibia won both the matches, beating Ghana by 160 runs and Kenya by 169.
The match against Ghana started at 09:00 local time where Namibia won the toss and elected to bat first. Captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-David-Williams-c51678 and right-handed batsman Sarel Burger remained the prominent batsmen of the innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Williams-c98034 and Burger individually scored 86 and 82 runs respectively which supported the team’s total. At the end of the innings, Namibia had scored 237 runs at the loss of 6 wickets.
Ghana had to chase the total at a run rate of 11.85 runs per over. When the chasing team started its innings, their batsmen could not stand in front of the Namibian bowlers. The chasers lost their wickets frequently and were all out at a meagre score of
77runs in just 17.3 overs.
This earned Namibia a victory against Ghana with a massive margin of 160 runs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sarel-Francois-Burger-c88808 and Louis Westhuizen remained the most fruitful bowlers as they took 5 and 3 wickets respectively.
Namibia played its second fixture of the day against Kenya in the same ground at Kampala. The match started at 14:00 local time where luck again favoured the Namibians and they won the toss. Captain Williams once chose to bat first as this decision had
remained fruitful earlier that day.
This time the opener Louis Westhuizen stood firm at the crease and blasted a splendid innings. Westhuizen remained unbeaten against Kenya and scored 159 runs off 70 balls. The consistent Craig Williams and Sarel Burger once again played a superb innings
of 42 and 53 runs.
With such amazing performances, the Namibian team scored 262 runs at the loss of just 1 wicket in the 20 overs game. Kenyans were given a huge target to chase at 13.10 runs per over, which required some sturdy partnerships.
Kenyan batsmen once again could not produce desired results and kept losing wickets. The star Namibian batsman, Westhuizen took 2 wickets whereas http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Helao-Nafidi-Ya-France-c62179 sent 3 Kenyans back to the Pavilion.
Kenyans finished their innings at 93 runs after 20 overs with 2 wickets in hand. Namibia once again defeated the opposing side and this time the margin was even higher, 169 runs.
Namibian cricket team has played 8 matches of the tournament so far and has remained unbeaten. Their consecutive victories have made them the strongest contender, seemingly impossible to beat.
Namibia will now play the final match of the tournament, tomorrow, on July 15, 2011, against Uganda. In the light of Namibia’s performance so far, they should be favourites for winning the tournament.
