Namibia v Easterns – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, 2012/2013 – Match Update
Courtesy two massive half-tons from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Raymond-van-Schoor-c84385 and Louis van der Westhuizen, Namibia claimed an easy 7-wicket win over the Easterns in the ongoing CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, at the United Cricket Club Ground in Windhoek on October 14.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Namibia-c2964 won the toss and decided to field first, with the Easterns going on to put forth a fairly competitive batting performance, culminating in a final score of 262.
Skipper and opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaun-Walter-Liebisch-c89865 (51).
Their combined efforts got the team total up to 125 after which Fourie was dislodged via run out in the 32nd over. Liebisch went on to establish a 28-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Lesiba Ngoepe (6), but both batsmen were dismissed
in successive overs – Ngoepe at the hands of Brandon Viret in the 36th over, and Liebisch off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bernard-Martinus-Scholtz-c47802 in the very next.
By this point the Easterns were at 159 for 5, but received another solid contribution in the form of Jurie Snyman’s unbeaten 76. Aided by Ulricht van Duyker (21) and wicketkeeper batsman Dylan Bennie (6*), Jurie Snyman got the team up to a final total of
262 by the end of 50 overs.
In response, Namibia’s top-order stepped up to the challenge brilliantly, and laid a solid foundation which got the team over the finish line at the expense of just 3 wickets.
Openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 Schoor was joined by van der Westhuizen
(97), and the two batsmen struck up a massive 177-run partnership for the second wicket, which got Namibia comfortably up to 227.
van der Westhuizen was finally dislodged by van Duyker in the 32nd over, and van Schoor followed suit in the 35th over, dismissed by Dillon Stanley. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-David-Williams-c51678 (21*) ensured Namibia weren’t in danger
at any point, and their unbeaten 29-run partnership got the team safely up to 264, with 7 wickets and 73 balls remaining.
