Namibia 223/3 (20/20 ov); Scotland 107 (15.3 /20 ov) - Namibia won by 116 runs
Namibia restored some pride after defeating Scotland by 116 runs in the fourth unofficial T20I match, played at Windhoek High School on Tuesday, October 4, 2011.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-David-Williams-c51678, the Namibian skipper, played a sizzling innings of 116 runs from 48 deliveries which included 14 sixes and two fours. The batsman, who had an astonishing strike rate of 241.66, propelled the Namibian team to a gigantic
total of 223 runs for the loss of three wickets. The Scots, in their reply, were dismantled for a mere 107 runs in 15.3 overs.
Scotland’s skipper, Richie http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Berrington-c47840, won the toss and unlike his decisions in the previous games, invited the opposition to bat first.
Williams opened the innings for Namibia and was accompanied by Louis http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tyler-John-Buchan-c94498.
Namibian vanguards got the better of Scottish new ball bowlers. Westhuizen was merciless from the start and targeted short boundaries on the leg.
Both openers were going along nicely before Berrington provided the first break through for his side. The skipper of Scotland produced a gem of a delivery to see the back of Westhuizen (23) in the 5th over.
Williams took charge of things at the demise of Westhuizen. The helm of the Namibian team continued to torment the opposition bowlers and was given complete support by number three batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Raymond-van-Schoor-c84385.
The duo scored at 13.11 runs per over and compiled 153 runs for the second wicket. The affiliation between Williams and Raymond lasted for 11.4 overs. Williams was the major contributor in their partnership and his milestone hundred
came during the same stand.
It took the combined efforts off Safyaan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sharif-c89762 and Preston Mommsen to bring an end to the on-field romance between Williams and Westhuizen. Sharif was rewarded for keeping his calm under the onslaught in the 17th over, the batsman
miscued a shot that went high in the air and the fielder Mommsen did the rest.
Sharif struck again in the same over and this time it was Raymond who had to take the long walk back to pavilion after scoring 40 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Niel-Rossouw-c79518 put on a handy partnership of 34 runs as Namibia finished their innings on 223.
Scotland never recovered from the early blitz of Williams and lacked the venom that was required during their chase. The visitors lost half of their batting brigade with just 40 runs on the board. Westhuizen and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bernard-Martinus-Scholtz-c47802
were the ones who made early inroads. Both bowlers finished the match with three wickets each.
Only four batsmen from Scotland were able to reach double figures, the rest of the batting faltered badly as the visiting side got out for just 107 runs with 27 deliveries remaining.
Although the Namibian side emerged victorious in the game, the win came a bit too late. Scotland had an unassailable lead of three games to nil prior to this so the outcome of this match would not change the outcome of the series.
The fifth and final match of the series will be played on Wednesday, October 5 at Windhoek High School and will start at 12:00 GMT.
