I like both cities,  but LOVE Nancy!  The architecture is lovely, the streets lined with interesting shops, wonderful historical sites, the people are hospitable, parking is a nightmare, but the public transportation is negotiable, reliable and can get you almost everywhere.

It really depends on what you like.

For a young or old person, for culture, for lifestyle, good restaurants, etc.

they are beautifull cities, but very quiet, with no night life, prefer south of France
