Nandagopal opens his campaign with victory in Yonex Polish International 2012
The young male Indian shuttler K. Nandagopal opened his campaign in Yonex Polish International with a victory against Polish rival Michal Rogalski in qualifying round on March 22, 2012.
The Men’s singles expert Nandagopal sealed the first victory in just two games which lasted for just 30 minutes.
The only male contender of India in the event, Nandagopal hammered his rival with a decisive margin of 21-19 and 21-11 to set up a tussle with the Malaysian shuttler Misbun Shawal Misbun in second round of qualifying draws.
In his opening match Nandagopal displayed his prime badminton skills and completely outclassed his opponent in all aspects of the game. He built psychological supremacy by ensuring his 1-0 lead straight away in first set.
The losing contestant from Poland put a decent fight in opening game but he could not stop the Indian from putting the final 21-19 on the score board.
There were some technical mistakes from Nandagopal which allowed his challenger to almost match his score but he accelerated his pace right at the moment when it mattered and left his rival behind on the score board.
His powerful smashes earned him seven crucial points which ultimately helped him to finish the first set in his favour.
The following set completely belonged to Nandagopal as he did not spare any loop holes for his rival and bagged the decisive match point with even more convincing score 21-11 on the board.
Every time Michal Rogalski tried to step forward on the score board the winning contestant Nandagopal put his progress to halt.
He beat his opponent by applying unusual tactics as many times he pushed Michal to back-foot with his power packed smashes and then earned crucial points with a deceiving drop shot.
The Taby Club’s player, Nandagopal scored 16 points collectively with these two shots only and sealed a straight-set victory with a final score of 21-11 on the board.
He is now scheduled to meet Misbun Shawal Misbun in his next encounter and a win will put him just one step away from the main draws of the event. It will be exciting to see this battle as both players are in decent form.
