Nani feels on the top of his game
Manchester United winger Nani has claimed that he feels on top of his game, in a way he's never felt before in his career.
Nani has become an integral part of Manchester United’s attack line and has established himself as a first choice winger. The Portuguese had a slow start to his Manchester United career since joining from Sporting in 2007. He made 41 appearances in the first
season and had a slow but impressive learning curve. In the second of the last season, Nani picked up his form and dismantled Arsenal at the Emirates. His precise runs and twists and turns left the Gunners defense dumbfounded and Nani provided two assists
along with a superb goal, defeating Arsenal 3-1.
The not so important winger has now become the bread and butter of the club and Nani’s height in form has only just developed in the past 9 months. When the last winter transfer window commenced, it wouldn’t have been a surprise had the 23 year old been
offloaded, following his not so impressive 2 and a half seasons with the club.
Nani himself has expressed his will to leave the Manchester based club, following little involvement in the first team. Nani was always overshadowed by another Portuguese at the club; a certain 2008 World Player of the year Mr. Crisitiano Ronaldo. However,
since Ronaldo’s departure from the club, Nani has become the creative genius and has so far assisted 6 times and scored two goals.
Nani’s consistent impressive performances had led Sir Alex Ferguson to have full faith in the 23 year old ambidextrous winger. Nani scored an impressive solo goal in this weekend’s premier league fixture against Bolton Wanderers, where he picked up the ball
on the half line and ran to the box. Nani dodged four defenders in the process and then drilled a precise finish past Bolton keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen. This was the second goal of the season for the player but his contributions have been on the assist front,
as Nani was also the creator of United’s equalizing goal against Bolton. Nani would be expected to produce a similar performance, as United travel to Spain to face Valencia in what would be their 19th match on Spanish soil. United have managed just
one win in 18 matches but still aim for nothing less than a win.
PRECISE SHOT
"I feel more confident now than at any stage in my career. I know I am at a very good moment in my career and my performances have been at a high level. I am doing well and am playing at an important level for my team. That is making me confident in every
game and I hope to continue that.", claimed the 23 year old Portuguese.
Manchester United have experienced their worst defensive record so far this season, having conceded 10 goals in 6 matches so far. A team which despite finishing second in the league last season, had the best defensive record as they conceded just 28 goals
in the entire season. United have suffered with slack in defence and no or little man marking which has given teams to equalize and capitalize in the dying moments of the match. The side has managed to draw all of the away fixtures while maintaining a 100%
win record at Old Trafford in the league. With Ferguson aiming to go for the Champions league title this season, only time will tell how the defense line would be able cope with the a side like Valencia, who currently top the league charts.
