  1. nanimo = nothing (sometimes translates as 'anything')

    shitemasen = 'not do'

    shitemasu = to do

    ka = makes a sentence a question

    Therefore it is "not doing nothing" but a double-negative in Japanese still means a negative, and the use of "I" or "You" is simply omitted.

    So broken down it's :-

    "(I'm) not doing anything"

    To ask "Are you doing anything?" it would be "nanimo shitemasu ka?"

    Hope I helped ^_^
