Naoise and Cailin Coillteach joint favourites for www.redbook.ie Handicap
A two way battle is expected between Naoise and Cailin Coillteach in the www.redbook.ie Handicap at Dundalk in Ireland on Friday, March 16, 2012. The winner of the race will walk away with a cash prize of €4,830.
The race distance to cover will be 7 furlong, which will make things quite interesting. The event will start at 7:30 GMT and a total of 11 runners have been attracted towards it. Their names are as follows: Naoise, Cailin Coillteach, Chevanah, Translator,
Gala Spirit, Romeo´s On Fire, Jumbo Steps, College Sam, Nine Bean Rows, Curl Cat and Wheatfield.
Naoise has been in decent form over the past few months, thus the bookmakers believe he will be able to make a strong impression today. However, his strike rate is not much impressive, which might discourage the punters from placing bets on him.
The four-year-old colt has participated in eight races until now, winning one of them. Other than that, he finished runner up on a couple of occasions and secured third place once.
J. S. Bolger’s trainee finished second in his most recent run, which suggests that he is in good rhythm at the moment. He has been racing at Dundalk for the past few months, thus is fully aware of the conditions.
The promising runner will be partnered by K. J. Manning, who is relatively new to the sport, but has been doing a decent job since making debut.
The bookmakers have also shown a lot of faith in the abilities of Cailin Coillteach, who has found some form recently. Although she has managed to win just a couple of races, they came in February, this year.
After those victories, Cailin Coillteach took part in one more race, but failed to complete a hat-trick. However, she still did a decent job, finishing third overall. This will encourage the bettors to risk some money on her.
The four-year-old filly has entered 14 events until now, but she was unable to deliver strong results at the start of her career. Things seem to be moving in the right direction for her now and her trainer, W. McCreery, will be expecting a strong result
today.
Cailin Coillteach will be ridden by C. P. Hoban, who is yet to win his maiden race. However, he has a solid chance of breaking the shackles at Dundalk today.
