Naperville Central boys volleyball team defeats West Aurora by 2-1 on Wednesday
Gone are the days when volleyball was only restricted to play at the university level. These days, a competitive and thrilling game of volleyball may also be seen if you just take a walk to your local school gym.
Realising the popularity of the sport, various schools have inculcated training programs that aim to harness and develop the potential of the young and aspiring athletes who enthusiastically sign up in the school volleyball team. Not only the boys but the
girls are also increasingly showing interest and improving themselves by playing in several high school tournaments at all levels. More often than not, the senior players of the high school teams are hunted for their talent to be utilised at the higher levels
of the game.
A team that has such capable and aspiring players is the Naperville Central boys volleyball team. They were in competition with West Aurora, whom they were able to defeat in a well-played game of volleyball. The match was part of the Du Page Valley Conference
and was played on Wednesday.
By the time that the Redhawks were done with their opponents and were jumping with joy in celebration of the win, the scoreboard read as 23-25, 25-23 and 25-20. Not only did the Redhawks make a comeback after a 0-1 deficit, they were able to defeat their
opponents while playing on the home ground of West Aurora.
With their recent win, the Redhawks have been able to improve their total number of conference wins to a figure of two now. In comparison, the times that they have suffered a loss tally to be more at the number six. If the overall season record of the Redhawks
is looked at, it shows their total win to be seven. The number of times that they have undergone losses in the season amount to be 12.
As opposed to their opponents, the Blackhawks have been able to fare much better. The number of wins that the Blackhawks have been able to secure so far in the overall season total to be 13. They have suffered 10 defeats in accomplishing this. In conference
play, the Blackhawks have been able to register victories that amount to be three. These wins have been tallied at the expense of incurring five losses.  
“We couldn’t find a rhythm tonight,” West Aurora coach Tolis Koskinaris said. “Our passing wasn’t as crisp as it usually is. This was our worst serve-receive game of the season. We were slow in the back row. You could tell Naperville Central wanted this
match more than we did. They played with the right enthusiasm and finished the match and we did not. That was the difference.”
