  1. FLORENCE! Naples is beautiful...but it doesn't beat the architecture and the relaxed city feel of Florence. The shopping is fabulous, the food is fabulous, and so are the hotels.

  2. I agree with luosechi but it's up to you and your boyfriend.

How about you and your bf go on tossing a coin.. If the head wins then both of you are going to Florence  and if it's tail then you're both going to Napoli. lol (just kidding) Enjoy!

    Buon viaggio! <*-*>

  3. florence absolutely.naples is just a city full of trash everywhere

  4. depends what you want.....florence is a tourist trap, all you here is english, but if you're into art, you can see some famous stuff, but at this point, maybe you're sick the art?  i know a lot of people get to that point.'

naples was my favorite city in italy, the people were so warm, (i spent most of my time in the north....people weren't as warm), but keep in mind that i speak italian, so i was able to chit chat with the locals, also, naples is the home of pizza, there are just great pizza places all over, and it's on the water, which is beautiful.

also, you can go to pompei (volcano ruins of an ancient city, perhaps one of the best touristy things  i did in italy) and you can go to the island of capri, which is a neat experience...have fun!

  5. I was traveling last Spring and heard a lot of people recommend Florence. I don't have a "why" -sorry

  6. Florence has to be one of the prettist cities I have been to.

I did a day trip from Rome to Pomepii via Naples and what I saw of it, did nto make pleansat viewing....it looked to me that they threw excriment out the windows of buildings...I am not sure exaclty what it was but thats what it looked like!!

It did not look pretty at all, but rather crowded and dirty.

I am not sure if there is any real reason to visit Naples???!!

  7. No contest,Florence! I lived and worked in Naples for five years.Naples stinks,is full of pick-pockets and other scoundrels.I have been to Florence several times,as well as most of the rest of Italy. The farther North you go,the better it is.Other than the Pizza (Naples has the best in the world) the food really sucks. Please use caution wherever you decide to visit.Have fun and enjoy.

  8. Florence (Firenze) hands down. One of the most romantic cities in the universe.

  9. Naples - you can take the train from Rome. It's only about 3 hours. Beautiful country ride. I was there two years ago, I love love it.

  10. Definitely Florence. Hands down.

  11. I live in Naples and in Naples itself there is not much unless you go to pompii, sorrento, or the island but downtown naples is a **** hole with trash everywhere and its even worest now since they are not collecting trash because of the clouser of the landfills. Florence is much better I've been there severeal times and its cleaner lots more to do and they are equal distance from Rome either two hours north or south.

  12. Hi, I live in Italy, in particular, I live in Naples. I know my city very well.

It's true, Naples is dirty and caotic, while Florence is a jewel.

But Naples enters in your body and remains there forever.

If you see Naples without prejudice and if you are interested in knowing Naples, it is much more beautiful than Florence.

We have a bigger tradition in music, food.

We have the sea and breathtaking views, that in Florence they dream! Try to see some photos of Posillipo or Castel Sant'Elmo.

Naples is bigger. You see Florence in two days, while Naples takes you a life to be completely known...

Naples has a lot of monuments, more than Florence, but in Florence they are concentrated in the centre, in Naples are all around the city.

In Naples also the metro is art. There are a lot of works of modern art in the metro stations!

The incredible surrounding of Naples leaves you every kind of positive emotion. Pompeii, Oplonti, Ercolano, Pozzuoli, Sorrento, Amalfi, Capri, Positano, Baia, Bacoli and I could stay to tell you until tomorrow other places.

I only would like to say you a thing. Don't take care of people who say that Naples is dangerous, don't be afraid to go to Naples.

I hope you'll be lucky to admire all the beauty of my city.

  13. stay away from naples. it is a shame that i have to tell you this even though i was born in italy myself....luckly not in naples. for the first time in 40 years since i left italy, i was in naples last april for one day (i took a tour trip to the amalfi coast which is very beautiful and unfortunatly naples was a stop over). i was told not to wear the wallet in the back pocket and to also to carry the minimum money possible in my front packet (it makes it harder for the thieves to rub me). well, i stopped in a shop to buy aq 5 euro tee shirt and the clerck taking care of me pulled my moey out of my hand and ran away. all the other clercks told me that they had never seen the thief before. when i walked out, a standby honest napoletan told me that they pull this trick on every turists that walks into the shop. he told me that they make turns to rub people and if i went back in about 1 hour, the clerck that rubber me would be there but it was best for me to walk away. it was safer because they usually carry guns on them. it is a fact that almost 2-3 people are killed every day in naples but most of them are due to rival gangs. additionally, when i took the bus to return to my hometown (the bus station is just outside the train station), i saw that it was an open market for drugs. policemen spend their shift in the safe heaven of their stations. they are afraid to stop crimes because too many of them have been killed in the past. at one time it was suggested by some politicians to send the army in naples but then they decided not to because it could become a door to door combat. too bad to the so many honest napoletans. buon viaggio a firenze. ciao

  14. UGGHHH!

I traveled to both Naples & Florence last year --- NAPLES IS A PIT! Pompeii is near Naples and that is pretty awesome but Naples itself is very dirty and ugly....I would just stay away from Naples if possible.... Florence is much prettier and clean.

  15. I would say Florence

  16. florence.  even italians don't like naples.

  17. It depends on your priorities...

    Firenze (Florence) is phenomenal!

Napoli (Naples) has the best pizza on the planet!

  18. i have never been to naples, but i have been to florence and can recommend it! here's my why: it is a lovely city with amazing views, great food, culture emerges from wherever you are looking, and it is quite small so you can walk it all, which is specially good since you only have one day. plus, at night, there are lots of people in the streets and music is played in front of the uffizzi gallery.. god, i love florence! anyway, you just can't visit italy and not go to florence!

  19. I've been to both places, and liked Naples much more than Florence (maybe that's because Florence was cold and rainy). One of the reasons I'd suggest Naples, is that asside from the city itself, right next door is beautiful Sorrento and Mt. Vesuvius with the dead city of Pompeii. If you want to spend another day, you can also visit the isle of Capri.

Asides from David, Florence doesn't seem to have anything. Wherever you go, enjoy!

  20. ONLY ONE DAY:

Florence to see the museums - some of the most important in the the western world.

Naples should also be visited but if it's your 1st time to Italy then you should see the art and soak up the culture. Naples can seem to be just another busy Mediterranean city whereas Florence is a bit more serene (tha Naples).

  21. Well Napoli is nearer, but I would definately say Florence.
