The Genoa defence was torn into pieces as Cavani scored the third goal for his side in the 24th minute. The Uruguayan striker sprung the offside trap after a lovely pass from Pandev and chipped the ball over Frey’s head
to make it 3-0 for the Azzurri.
The game looked sealed for the visitors as they were made to pay for their defensive fatalities. However, the Marassi outfit did not lose hope and managed to pull a goal back. Jorquera’s low drive was met by another defensive error

Cavani could have completed his hat-trick immediately after the resumption of second-half but his angled shot from six yards went whiskers wide of the far post.
The Partenopei outfit started the second-half from where they left, Hamsik played a lovely pull-back for Gargano, whose curling effort from the edge of the penalty beat the diving Frey and made it 5-1.
El-Matador had another glorious opportunity to complete his hat-trick just before the hour mark, but the powerful striker placed his shot wide of the goal.
Sanity returned to proceedings as the hosts were in cruise control.
