http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 are favourites for qualification, insists Mazzarri: UEFA Champions League news
Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri, believes that his team are favourites to qualify for the knockout round ahead of Manchester City.
The Italians will take on Villarreal in the last Group A game of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, 07 December 2011. The Azzurri are in desperate need of a win as Mazzarri believes that it will be a huge landmark in the history
of the club. The tactician believes that even thinking about qualification is a huge success for the club as they are making a return to the competition after 21 years.
The 50-year-old is expecting a tough game for his side but he is confident that team have the credentials to advance to the next round.
“I say simply being in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 on the last day talking about possible qualification is already a big success. We know that a difficult game awaits us in a passionate arena that we already experienced last season in the UEFA Cup.”
Mazzarri also responded to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s comments, who said that his side is superior to Napoli regardless of who qualifies to the next round. The former Sampdoria manager admitted that City have a superior squad than his team
but the Azzurri have played better football than them and are in pole position to qualify for the next round.
“We have an advantage and want to make the most of it, especially as we are the only side to have taken points off Bayern Munich so far. Mancini is right that we cannot compare to their amazing squad. However, we are a point above
the Manchester City superpower and we have the best chance of qualifying for the next round.”
The experienced tactician has urged his players to play their natural game and not to take the added pressure of qualification in their heads. Mazzarri is extremely happy with the development his team has made this season and believes
that they have proved themselves as a real force in the world football.
Napoli are currently placed 2nd in the Group A behind leaders, Bayern Munich, while Manchester City are one point behind the Italian side.
