The Partenopei chief reveals that after the gruelling 2-0 win against Siena, his team is starting to show signs of fatigue; insists they will miss Christian Maggio.
Napoli overturned a 2-1 lead from the first-leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final tie against Siena, with a tough 2-0 victory, to put an end to the Robur’s dream run in the tournament.
The fabulous victory means that the Partenopei will join Juventus in the final of the tournament to be played on 20th May.
Walter Mazzarri is overjoyed by his team’s splendid performance in the match, but insisted that after yet another tiring match, the fatigue is going to get a hold of the team. The manager insisted that he needs fresh legs to fight
for the crucial third-spot in Serie A, and the fatigue is bound to take its toll on the team’s campaign for a UEFA Champions League spot. The former Sampdoria manager insisted that the injury of Christian Maggio is a big strategic set-back for the team.
While talking to the press, the Napoli chief said:
“I’m happy that we are in the Final, but I’m worried about the rest of the season. The team is tired and that was evident. Siena were moving twice as fast as us in the second half. And we’ve probably lost http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Maggio-c9098 for an
important amount of time to injury too.”
The Partenopei have worked like a busy bee, most of the season, to balance their domestic commitments with that of UEFA Champions League. Now, having exited the tournament at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, Mazzarri believes the knockout
could prove to be a blessing in disguise for the team, as that will help them concentrate in Serie A.
“We would have certainly dropped more points in Serie A if we were still in the Champions League. Now we need a miracle against Catania and then we’ll have a full week to prepare for games after that.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 are already out of the European Championship and the competition for Scudetto. The Coppa Italia final represents their only hope of winning Silverware this season.
Walter Mazzarri reminded that he lost the 2008-09 Coppa Italia final to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 on penalties, and insisted that it is a great feeling to be back in the ultimate match. The Partenopei chief said that reaching the final is the most
important thing, and regardless of the outcome, the team is proud to be a part of it.
