http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morgan-De-Sanctis-c26801, is delighted to be back in the Italian international team after a 14 minute substitute appearance.
Sanctis came in as a substitute for first-choice shot-stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Northern-Ireland-c2972 in the last group stage game of the Euro 2012 qualifiers. The Italian was not in
the initial plans of the manager but a slight concern over Buffon’s fitness prompted Cesare Prandelli to call him.
The 34-year-old made his debut for Gli Azzurri in 2005 and has made only four appearances for them thus far. However, he added that he enjoyed a lot whenever he got a chance at international stage and is eagerly looking forward
to continue playing for his country.
The former Juventus man was surprised when the manager told him that he has to come on as a substitute and admitted his delight after a brief appearance.
Sanctis said, “The Coach surprisingly decided to throw me on, even if I was perhaps helped by suggestions beforehand that I could feature. To go on to the field of play for your country, at my age, was great and I’m happy to be
back in this squad.”
Sanctis heaped praise on Buffon and believes that the veteran goalkeeper will continue to serve his country for many more years to come as nobody can match his standards. However, he insisted that they should develop some young
goalkeepers, who can work under the Juventus stopper’s shadows.
“Gigi Buffon is well and he will guarantee great performances for many years to come, but there was a need to build a future behind him. That’s why you could understand why it was decided to focus on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salvatore-Sirigu-c32282 of Paris SG
and Inter’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emiliano-Viviano-c12483 [who is currently injured].”
The 34-year-old has made himself available for selection whenever his country needs his services and believes that he can play for three more years. The veteran custodian has had a great start to the season with Napoli and has
been huge part of their success lately.
