The Yugoslav born midfielder is optimistic over the chances of the Partenopei to challenge for the Serie A Championship; remarking on his transition from last year.
Walter Mazzarri led Napoli into the UEFA Champions League for the 2011/12 season, and gave a very good showing and went out to beat eventual winners, Chelsea, in the round of 16. Their performances were lauded by all across Europe, as Napoli came through
a tricky group which had the likes of the current English Champions, Manchester City.
Napoli were fighting for a place in the Champions League till the last few weeks; however, they had to contend with a place in the Europa League as they finished fifth in the league. They lost out on the Champions League spot to Udinese.
The Neapolitan attack was feared throughout Europe, with Cavani leading an attack supported by Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik. Their most prolific result of the season came against Chelsea in the first leg of the round of 16, when the Partenopei outfit

He went on to state that they had gained invaluable
experience from the Champions League and the Coppa Italia, and they would be taking this new found mentality into the coming season.
He went on to comment:
“This squad is not missing much, we have experienced a lot thanks to last year in the Champions League and winning the Coppa Italia. I do not want us to underestimate the Europa League, I want to win it, it would be like winning a Scudetto.”
He went on to discuss about his input into the team and stated that he had come a long way during the last season, and mentioned:
“Compared to last year I am less shy, I know my teammates and am part of a large group here. If a player manages more than 40 appearances in his first season in Naples then that must mean he is doing well.”
