Napoli invite Manchester United with one-million Euros for a pre season game
Italian giants, Napoli, have requested English Premier League Champions, Manchester United, to play a pre-season game at the Stadio San Paolo.
The Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has confirmed that he has sent the proposal to United chiefs and are willing to offer one-million Euros in return. The Azzurri qualified for the UEFA Champions League after 21 years,
as they finished third in the Serie A table last season.
Laurentiis is keen to provide his team with the practice of playing with the top sides in the world and he believes that a game against Manchester United will tell him where they stand. The Red Devils had a wonderful 2010/11 campaign
and won the Premier League and also finished runners-up in the Champions League.
The Napoli chief believes that United are a complete team with an intelligent manager and it will be an ideal test for his side before the season.
Talking to the reporters Laurentiis said, "I have offered Manchester United €1 million [£880,000] to come here and play a friendly against Napoli. I am awaiting a reply.
“My aim is to have Napoli among the top teams, not just in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, but at international level. There is a lot of work to be done."
Laurentiis clearly wants to take the Azzurri to the highest level and it can also be seen with the transfer activity the club have made so far. Apart from signing new players, Napoli have done extremely well to keep hold of their
star players, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 are reluctant to sell them to any team.
Manchester United are already going through a congested fixture schedule, as they are currently on their pre season tour to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 and after that, they will return to play a testimonial match for the recently retired midfielder,
