Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri is upbeat of his team’s chances to win the Serie A title in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
Napoli are currently placed third on the League table after securing 59 points from 30 games so far. The Azzurri are three points behind League leaders AC Milan and one point behind Champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
Mazzarri believes that the Milan derby next weekend could help their title chances and they will hope that the game ends in a draw to enlighten their chances to win the Scudetto after 21 years.
However, the Italian feels that the title race will go down to the wire and will be decided in the final week of the season.
“We are satisfied with the amazing growth of the side in these last few months. Our strength is that we don’t look at the table, so that way we can concentrate on every game the same way. There are still eight finals left and we must interpret them all identically,”
Mazzarri said. “I believe that the Scudetto will be decided on the final day and we will be there fighting for it to the end. None of us have ever been in this situation before. My job is not to put too much pressure on the lads, as that could be counter-productive.
There are 24 points up for grabs and anything can still happen.”
Napoli were well on course to challenging for the title in the previous season as well but poor form in the second part of the campaign led them to finish sixth in the League table.
The former Fiorentina defender went onto praise strikers http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073 and midfielder Marek Hamsik for their influential role in guiding the Azzurri to the title race.
Cavani is the club’s highest goal scorer in the season and has scored 29 goals in all competitions so far. Hamsik is club’s second highest goal scorer with 11 goals in all competitions and has a handful of assists as well.
Mazzarri believes that if the trio remains fit for the remainder of the campaign then Napoli has a real chance to win their first Scudetto since 1990.
