He commended the team despite being knocked out, and has urged them to work even harder in Serie A, and secure a third-place finish.
While talking to the press, the Partenopei boss said:
“After this defeat I have more desire to continue. I applauded my own and I told them to concentrate on the League, because I want to return next year to this wonderful competition.”
De Laurentiis insisted that the team lacked experience, and that was one of the major reasons for their debacle in London. However, he admitted Napoli have learnt a lot from their adventures against the Europe’s best teams, and
the players have made great leaps in terms of individual growth.
“There has been an exponential growth of an excellent group, they will have gained from this experience in the Champions League.”
Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri, believes that it is a shame that his team went out after having created so many scoring opportunities. He felt that Christian Maggio’s injury was the turning point in the game for the visitors.
The coach commended Chelsea for a phenomenal performance, and insisted that despite the defeat, his team has gained a lot in terms of experience.
