Narain Karthikeyan anticipates staying with Hispania Racing Team for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Narain Karthikeyan of HRT expects to stay with the team despite Ma Qing Hua replacing him in the Friday practice sessions at the Italy Grand Prix and the Chinese driver is called by the team for the practice session of Singapore Grand Prix scheduled on September
21, 2012, as well.
He told that the team has improved a lot by making a lot of investments in infrastructure. They have developed headquarter and factory. He added that they expect improved results in the next 2013 season, resulting from their investments. Besides, he said
that he and administration are at very good terms and hopes that they will be able to find some way out. The Indian rider wants to stay with the team.
Karthikeyan told Press trust of India, “The management and I have very good rapport. Hopefully, we can work something out. I would like to stay at HRT. That's the plan and it seems good so far.”
The Indian rider believes that he has been unlucky on the circuit because he could not participate in the practice session 1 and the second practice session went wet, this resulted in competing with his teammate, Pedro de la Rosa, with just a practice session
of 1 hour. He believes that it is very challenging to compete with the veteran driver with this limited practice.
“From Silverstone onwards, I have been unlucky in missing practice one on Fridays while the second practice has been wet. So to get one hour of practice on Saturday and then to compete against a fast guy like him is difficult and challenging,” he added.
Karthikeyan has been unable to attain any point in the current season. He started the Italy GP at the 21st grid and was able to finish the race at the 19thposition while his teammate, De la Rosa started the race at the 23rd grid and finished at the 18th position.
Let’s see whether he will be able to sustain his position in the team or not because Dani Clos has also done Friday practice outings this year in his place because considering the performance of the Indian driver it seems that his stay at the team can be
questioned.
