Narain Karthikeyan feels encouraged with HRT’s progress – Formula 1 news
HRT driver Narain Karthikeyan has said that he is extremely pleased with the performance of his team in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far and is feeling encouraged with the progress they have made.
Karthikeyan has not been able to score even a single point in the season until now and is currently standing at 23rd position in the drivers’ championship. Moreover, he is behind Marussia drivers, Timo Glock and Charles Pic and is ahead of his
teammate, Pedro de la Rosa.
Although, he has not been able to attain competitive results in the first eleven races, however, he said that he is very much contended with the developments the team has made after the Hungarian GP.
Furthermore, he said that they can improve their pace in the forthcoming races if they keep on pushing hard. In addition, he admired his team staff and said that everyone is very professional.
“We knew the car would be pretty basic but I've been surprised by its reliability and I think it has potential to improve. And the team has surprised me even more because renewing almost 85% of the staff isn't easy and I think that we have a very good combination
of people with a lot of experience in F1 and young people with a lot of hunger. But everyone is very professional and it's a real pleasure working with them,” he said.
Besides, he said that he is looking forward to improve his qualifying pace as he has not been able to make his way into the second session in the first half of the season. Additionally, he has retired in three races.
It is to be noted that on stewards’ discretions, he was not allowed to qualify for the season opener as he failed to set the time within the range of 107%.
Even though, he said that they really need to work hard, nevertheless, he said that they are making some considerable advancement to enhance their performance in the upcoming races.
“We've still got a lot to do but we're making steady progress,” the HRT driver added.
