Narain Karthikeyan hoping to take part in the Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team’s Narain Karthikeyan has recently stated that he is hoping to take part in the Indian Grand Prix which is his home race and is going to be inaugurated this year on October 30, 2011.
Karthikeyan spoke to the media at the official unveiling of the Indian Grand Prix where he stated that racing in front of his home crowd has always been a dream of his and that dream will come true this year.
“It was always a dream for me to race in Formula 1 and race in front of my home crowd. And now thanks to the Jaypee Group that dream is going to be a reality,” he said.
The Indian driver lost his race seat to Daniel Ricciardo despite the fact that he has a contract with the team as a race driver and it seemed that he might not be able to take part in his home race. His recently statement however clears things up a
bit more and one has to admit that even if the team lets Karthikeyan take part at the Indian Grand Prix, they will not lose anything statistically.
“I've always maintained that racing in the German GP this year was a one-off. The team seem to be pleased with my performance at the event so we will see what happens,” he added.
Other than that, there were rumours that the organisers of the Indian Grand Prix might not be able to complete the track before its desired race date and security check deadlines as the track’s preparation started this year.
“The sale of the land was finalised and completed when we acquired the land back in 2007. I'm sure that we won't have any trouble with the running of the event,” said the circuit chief of the Indian Grand Prix.
However, the organisers of the track cleared this problem out as well as they claim that the preparation of the new track is right on schedule and they will not face any problem from the stewards during the security checks as well as the track is going
to be up to the Formula 1 standards.
