Narain Karthikeyan receives an award after his performance in NASCAR

Narain Karthikeyan became the first Indian driver to ever participate in Formula 1 when he joined the sport with Jordan in 2005. Narain had one of the most useless runs in Formula 1 history as he was unable to qualify ahead of the two Minardi drivers back
then, even though Jordan was much better than Minardi.
Surprisingly enough, Narain was able to secure 5 points out of the blue when he luckily took 4th place in an extremely unfortunate and dramatic rainy race. Karthikeyan got lucky as most of the top running drivers were out of the race and the conditions
were out of hand.
However, the Indian driver has officially announced that he will now be participating in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series next year and was voted as the Most Popular Driver of 2010 in a fan poll held by NASCAR officially.
This is the only good decision Narain has taken in years. It seems that the Indian driver finally realized that he does not have the potential to become an F1 driver anytime soon and therefore, he joined NASCAR that is one of the simplest and easiest of
all the motorsports.
Karthikeyan was able to defeat drivers like Ron Hornaday and 2010 champion Todd Bodine and as a result, became the most famous NASCAR driver of 2010. Another remember able driver who joined NASCAR was Juan Pablo Montoya who left Formula 1 after leaving McLaren
in 2006.
However, the difference between Narain and Juan Pablo is that Juan Pablo was one of the best drivers of his time in Formula 1 while Narain was one of the worst drivers in the sport back then.

Narain was extremely happy with this outcome before he received the award at the NASCAR end of season Award Banquet this past Sunday.
“Racing in NASCAR has been such a rewarding experience, both personally and professionally. From the other drivers to the fans, everyone has been extremely welcoming and supportive. I really want to thank all the fans, in India,” said Narain.
