Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) and BDSM?

Is it possible there is a link between some Masters/Doms and them having NPD? Would this be the perfect type of relationship for them or not? Is there any treatment or cure for NPD and what do you do when you realize someone you love has this?

  1. The problem with any mental disorder is that the person who has it must want to do something about it or they'll never feel or act differently towards others.

You can only do two things if you love a person with NPD.

    1) Leave them if they aren't actively seeking treatment and working on changing their behavior.

Or-- 2) Realize that it will always be "all about them" and not about you if you stay with them.

Sorry, but that's the way it really is. There is someone out there who would treat you much better, but as long as you're with this NPD person, you'll never give the better person a chance!! : /

  2. Possibley could lead someone to seek it out a BDSM relationship and being Dom though would not make for a healthy BDSM relationship.  BDSM relationships can be just as healthy as non BDSM ones.  Relationships with a someone with NPD are not.

If some you love has it, they have to realize they need help, otherwise all you can do is distance yourself from them so it doesnt effect you

  3. I don't think so. There are a******s in the scene, but there are a******s in the vanilla world too.

My Dom is not a narcissist. He's a Dom. There is a huge difference. And if he WAS a narcissist, I wouldn't be his sub.

There's these stereotypes around that all Doms much be antisocial or narcissistic, and all subs must be self-loathing doormats. The truth is, that if you're a good Dom or a good sub, you have to be mentally balanced, just like anything else in life.

  4. Both of my parent have NPD. HTere is really nothing you can do for those people. You should help yourself and get away from them as far as you can and as fast as you can. Narcissists do not change - because they simply don't believe that there is anything wrong with them. They'll think that you are nuts for trying to fix them . I suggest a really good blog on that topic, where you can also find more information on disorder. http://www.narcissisticparents.blogspot....   and http://www.narc-attack.blogspot.com/
