Naruto Question: After Madara took His brother's eyes, did his brother die or become blind?

Madara's brother was already sick and according to Madara he told him to take his eyes. His brother is not mentioned after that so it is assumed he died. Also the clan didn't like that Madara took his brother's eyes so I'm pretty sure his brother died, because if he had truly told Madara to take them he would have told the clan that, if he lived, and since he didn't I believe he died.
