  1. No contest! The King-Richard Petty. NO ONE will come close to his 200 wins. Jeff Gordon has the best shot at 7 championships.

  2. with 200 wins.........no doubts.........Richard Petty

  3. Dale Earnhardt. No Questions asked.

  4. dale sr but

in 10 years the answer will be kyle

  5. JEFF GORDON OF COURSE!

  6. Dale Earnhardt Sr.

  7. buddy baker

  8. Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt, both 7 time Champions.

  9. The most logical pick would be Richard Petty, then Dale Earnhardt.

But I'll stick with Bobby Allison.

  10. on wins, Petty...everything else DALE

  11. Not really debatable, the Silver Fox, hands down

  12. Jeff Gordon DOG!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. my favorite ever is jeff gordon. but on the topic of best ever it has to be King Petty. 200 wins is just ridiculous.

  14. Dale Earnhardt Sr.

    or

    Richard Petty

but out of the drivers of today..Jeff Gordon is pretty close.

  15. Bobby Allison or Dale SR (RIP)

  16. I gotta be the Spoil sport!~!!  As for the Modern Era, Hands down JEFF GORDON!

    YOU KNOW!~

  17. last to wins for the big money jimmy Johnny's is the best

  18. i would have to give a vote to cale. he had trouble getting a ride for a long time, but when he did he made the best of it. as for the king, having your own building at chryslers engineering center and access to everything there had to give him a great advantage. i know the building existed because when working at the engineering center after he moved on i worked on some special projects in the building.

  19. Jeff Gordon..so far..

  20. statistically David Pearson, arguably petty or Senior.  Modern day Gordon,Johnson or Martin

  21. Dale Sr.

  22. Richard Petty.  His win total speaks for itself.

  23. Richie Evans. He dominated Daytona when he ran there. He had 9 championships and won 8 championships in a row. The record book shows about 480 feature wins, but the record book only tells part of the story.

  24. It's all a matter of opinion but I'd say that David Pearson was the greatest driver that there ever was in NASCAR.  I'd put Sr 2nd (right now), Jeff Gordon 3rd and Richard Petty 4th, but that's just MY list.  Everybody has different criteria and it comes down to what stats or qualities you value the most.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  25. Dale Earnhardt. He wasn't afraid of anyone or anything. He could drive his car in places that other people never would have dreamed of. He was by far the most talented and accomplished driver. He was one of us. He did all of his own work at home, made his own seats and worked on his own cars. Dale was so devoted to his racing that he had 3 wives that left because the racing was his top priority. Many think Richard Petty was the best ever, but when he raced, they would race sometimes 3 races a week. This is how he won so many races. He had enough money and time that he rarely missed a race, so he was expected to win the championship.

  26. well many consider the king, richard petty.  Petty thinks it is David Pearson.  Having grown up watching both, Petty is right, Pearson was untouchable.

  27. C'MON NOW REALLY,DON'T YOU GUYS REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO HAVE THE MAN IN BLACK OUT THERE??    PEARSON??? PLEASE?!! HE JUST DROVE WHATEVER RACES HE WAS BEST AT.....AND PETTY....HE MUST HAVE WON THE RACES THAT PEARSON SKIPPED...AND ONCE SR.GOT BACK INTO WRANGLER CHEVY'S THOSE GUYS WERE WHAT THEY ARE NOW...HISTORY!!!!!

  28. Well... he didn't earn the nickname The King for NOTHING!

    Richard Petty!

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOO J Gordon!

  29. This questions has been asked here many times.  However, I don't believe it can really be answered. A lot of the early drivers are not taken into consideration. Guys like Lloyd Seay, Red Byron, Curtis Turner, and Roy Hall did things with cars no one thought possible. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see them in action, thus we cannot compare them to the modern era drivers. I think King Richard is in a league of his own. From the 80s on it would be Dale Sr., Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and DW, in that order.

  30. Awesome Bill from Dawsonville
