Nascar All Star Race?

Question

Is the Nascar All Star Race an official race that will credit the driver's with points, or is it just a fun thing that Nascar does. Kasey Kahne won the all star race and this week he also won at Lowe's. Then I hear the announcers saying that Kahne's last win was like a year ago. So does the All Star Race really count?

1 million dollars is a nice purse, but thats really the only reason t hey run that race... they get a little bit of info for the coca-cola 600 as to how to set the car up and what not but other than that no points, nothing... usually it just ends up with a bunch of tore up race cars and a guy who just made a million bucks.

The All Star Challenge isn't a points event. Money only but I look at the race as practice for the Coca-Cola 600. It is a really fun event to attend.
