  1. most suits are made with a fire resistant material called nomex.

and to answer your question about staying cool. they dont. they have an air tube into thier helmets, but other than that the heat inside of a car is nearly intolerable. it's very hot.

  2. Well, I dont know. Someone I know went down to drive one of the cars at I believe Chicagoland, and he just had it around his waist and could barely breathe it was so hot. So, I think their just that tough.

  3. 2 ways that I know of:

-have a tube of air conditioned air going to that area

-sometimes use an ice pack & put it in their suits during a pit stop or under caution

  4. Well they have a air tube thingy that goes to there helmet to help keep them cool

but Matt has that and a picture of Katie Naked Taped to his Visor

i don't know how he does not wreck

  5. And a lot of people say these guys are not athletes..............Lets put Chad Johnson (Bengals) in one of those cars for a few hours..................LOL

  6. They don't. A lot of times in a post race interview you can see how wiped out those guys look and all they want is something to drink. When it's a really hot day it's worse. I don't know for sure what they are made of but you can be sure that they aren't very cool to wear, kinda like a body suit with a hood on it.  :(

  7. lol yeah Lenny I'm all for throwing Ocho Stinko in there after all that c**p he gave Bengal fans... he wouldn't last.

As said before, hoses are attached to the top of drivers' helmets to force cool air, and back then, the passenger window used to be left open to let some air in , but I believe they shut them off due to "aerodynamic" reasons.

  8. they dont, numerous times we hear drivers complain or mention the intolerable heat inside the cars. They do have a hose attached to the top of the helmet that forces cool air to them, but one must admit it cannot do that much...
