  1. it is a 2.5 mile track and it would take a little under an hour... which is when the race was scheduled to end anyway

  2. math doesn't matter - cognitive psychology does. the best way to put it is this:

Q: "if you could only watch one race this year right before you died, which would it be and why?"

A: "the brickyard 400, because it seemed like a frickin' eternity. i'd feel immortal even knowing i was to die at the end..."

    ;-)

  3. 43 x 3=129 miles /180 mph= .716 x 60 (minutes/hour)= 42.9....about.

Of course this is with your figures, not actual figures.

  4. I have been watching lap times.  The fastest car has been going slightly over 160 MPH.  So, with out cautions, if all 40 laps were to be run under green, it would take 50-55 minutes.  Basing it on the high end of the average speeds.

(Lap times are around 1 minute 15 seconds times 40 laps and you get 50 minutes)

  5. 43 minutes

180 mph divided by 60 minutes = 3 miles per minute

If it is a 3 mile track then it would take 1 minute to do 1 lap.

If there are 43 laps left then it would take 43 minutes.

That is provided they maintain a constant 180 miles per hour.

  6. 14 minutes

  7. 6 Hours. you can exclude the yellow's but never the commercials.
