This is CRAZY! Can't find a room tonight cheaper than $250(!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - what should I do?

Is it legal (must be) for hotels to hike up rates like that? Can I sue for price gouging?

  1. That the American way, Price Gouging...Its that way for all racing events, out here in Long Beach for the race every yr 3 night minimum stay and rooms start around $200 and up.. You might have to stay in Columbia or Dillon, Florence or closer to Myrtle Beach. Its not illegal to price gouge as they know people will pay it.. Some of my friends rented a RV it sleeps 8 theres 10 of them they are dividing the cost, its less than $250 a night for them this way, they have their own food and beer and a place to sleep.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  2. I ran into the same problem at Atlanta and Daytona. Its legal, no different than raising the rates in the summer at vacation spots..

  3. Man that sucks, did you try outside of Darlington?  Well good luck with the hotel hunt and enjoy the race.

  4. Simple supply and demand situation.  Remember, the buyer sets the price, not the seller.  They would ask 1000$ for the room if they knew they could get it.

  5. This happens every weekend with hotels in or around the track that NASCAR is racing at that weekend. I go to Talladega every year and I have family that lives about one hour from the track. So we drive that one hour to and from the track for both races every year and just stay with our family that lives one hour away. I happen to live 5 hours away from Talladega so it's worth it to me.
