  1. Phil Parsons 1988

  2. Well do you mean in the 70's the very first time plates were used or do you mean the 80's after Allison's huge crash in 1987???

I'm going to guess Phil Parsons 1988 in the #55 Skoal Classic /Crown Oldsmobile.

    OK, IF it's the 70's can I guess.....Pete Hamilton in the #40

    Petty Enterprises car???

Hamilton was joined in victory lane by the notorious Gov. George C. Wallace....I have a photo with Hamilton smiling "sheepishly" and Wallace looking as evil as possible.

  3. I know that it was first used in 1971 to reduce the ci.of a 427 to 358 ci.How about the king 43?

  4. Kenny Schrader in 1988 Diehard 500. Folgers #25. Right?

Edit: Technically, in the seventies not all the cars were running the plate. Nascar was phasing out the 427 and going to the 358 c.i. engine. So some of the cars may not have had plates. I think only the guys still running the 427 were required to wear them.  That would make Jeff's answer the correct one since the Winston 500 runs before the Diehard 500.

  5. Dale Earnhart Sr 1998
